Denmark and Germany on the way home

Travelling from Sweden to Denmark you need to cross the Oresund strait. It turns out to be cheaper to cross by ferry at Helsingborg, rather than the bridge from Malmo, which was a surprise. The crossing is only 4km, and we spotted 3 ferries working the day we travelled.

Copenhagen

Another great Danish campsite, with a green area next door suitable for Daisy to run around.

We took off one afternoon to Dragør, which is on the coast looking over the Oresund bridge. It had a pretty village square, interestingly thatched cottages (with wooden strakes on the roof ridge)

Copenhagen city

Rosenberg Castle, a royal palace, with the King’s Garden.

The old harbour area of Copenhagen

Staying in Germany, close to Bergen-Belsen Memorial

This was a somewhat sobering visit to where thousands of victims of the concentration camp are buried. You can walk through the grounds to see memorials as well as burial mounds.

There is also a museum, brutalist in style, which has a huge amount of photos and information about what happened.

Final pitch, and ferry home to the UK

We covered 3,000 miles with the car + Eriba caravan, plus an additional 1,000 driving around in the car alone, over the 5 weeks. But a really memorable and beautiful tour.
